FOREST HILLS, NY ORTHODONTIST PROVIDES INVISALIGN

By Amazing Smiles, serving Queens, Brooklyn and Long Island, with offices in Forest Hills, Mill Basin and Cedarhurst.

Invisalign, also known as “Invisalign braces” or “invisible braces” has fast become the preferred way to straighten teeth and achieve that sought-after, confident smile. It is an alternative to those silver braces we are all familiar with growing up. Invisalign uses clear aligners (also known as retainers) as opposed to brackets, wires and bands. An added benefit of Invisalign is that you can remove the aligners when you need to (when you brush, floss, drink a cup of coffee or enjoy barbecue ribs, for example), however we recommend that they remain on your teeth at least 22 hours each day.

FOREST HILLS, NY ORTHODONTIC OFFICE VISIT INVISALIGN SMILE ASSESSMENT

While Invisalign is a popular and effective treatment with great post-treatment for most people, consider these factors to determine if it is right for you:

  1. Your teeth and your bite: Most people use Invisalign to straighten their teeth if they are crooked, but the truth is that if your teeth are crowding your mouth, or if there is too much space between your teeth, or if you have an overbite or a crossbite, Invisalign may be an option for you as well. Take the Invisalign “smile assessment”to determine how it may help you. For a FREE assessment, you can also visit our office in Forest Hills, Queens; Mill Basin, Brooklyn; or Cedahurst, Long Island.
  2. Your age: Invisalign is effective for people of all ages. No matter how old you are, it is never too late to have straight teeth and a great smile. And now with ‘Invisalign Teen,’ young adults can take advantage of all of the benefits and flexibility of clear, removable aligners— particularly useful when it’s time for the prom and yearbook photos. We advise that children should be at least 12 years of age, however, before their first Invisalign consultation.
  3. Your habits: If you drink coffee, tea and red wine, you can still benefit from Invisalign treatment without worrying about staining. Because the retainers are removable, you can take them out to enjoy your favorite beverage and immediately replace them upon finishing. Likewise, if you grind or clench your teeth and have been diagnosed with TMJ (temporomandibular muscle and joint) syndrome, Invisalign can still be an option for you. In fact, the aligners act like a built-in mouth guard, safeguarding your teeth from damage. Just keep in mind that when you commit to Invisalign you must be diligent about removing and replacing your aligners—and wearing them for no less than 22 hours per day— to get the results you desire. Talk to us about these issues in person so we can properly advise and prepare you.
  4. The Cost: Prices have dropped in recent years, making Invisalign an option for more people. Like traditional braces, most insurance plans will contribute towards the cost. We offer competitive prices—plus 6 free replacement aligners when you qualify for Invisalign Teen Treatment. Should you find a better deal on Invisalign anywhere else in Queens, Brooklyn or Long Island, let us know.

When it comes to a mild case of misalignment, Invisalign Express may be the answer to all your smile woes. A branch of the conventional Invisalign treatment, Express is designed for people with minor alignment issues or a mild relapse from previous orthodontic treatment. Find out if this orthodontic alternative is right for your smile complaints.

HOW DOES INVISALIGN EXPRESS WORK?

Invisalign Express treatment is designed to use a small number of active upper and lower aligners only. Each set of aligners is worn for 2 weeks, just like full-care Invisalign, but for just 20 weeks or less. For many people, that is all it takes to correct that slightly less-than-perfect smile.

Express is not considered a full care orthodontic option. It is designed specifically to be a cosmetic improvement for your front teeth only and only if the degree of movement needed is limited. We will be pleased to explain the differences, limitations and determine if Express is right for you.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM INVISALIGN EXPRESS

With this treatment there will be a timeline of 5 to 10 trays throughout the course of the treatment and can last as little as 10 weeks. Express is a compressed timeline for patients that are looking for an affordable price and a quicker treatment format.

WHAT TO ASK YOUR ORTHODONTIST ABOUT INVISALIGN EXPRESS?

There are several questions a patient can ask their orthodontist about Invisalign Express:

  • How long will treatment last for?
  • How can Invisalign Express help my teeth?
  • What can I expect from the first appointment?
  • Can you explain how Invisalign Express is different?

INVISALIGN EXPRESS 10

Express 10, which operates on the same principles as Invisalign Full, is a shorter-duration treatment option.

  • Express 10 can be used as a precursor to restorative treatment or as a treatment for minor crowding/spacing cases (including orthodontic relapse).
  • Invisalign Express 10 is a treatment option for cases that can be addressed in 10 stages of aligners or less, and has some clinical restrictions.

INVISALIGN EXPRESS 5

For patients with minor orthodontic issues, such as very mild spacing, crowding and orthodontic relapse. Invisalign Express 5 offers the same high-quality Invisalign features you expect at a lower price. It is a series of 5 aligner sets that treat minor orthodontic issues in less than 3 months. Express is a more economical and sensible treatment option for people with minor crowding or spacing issues.

UNDERSTANDING LIFE WITH A RETAINER

Do you need a bit of an information guide to what life is like wearing a retainer? We have a curated article that details what life is like when it comes to wearing a retainer. Essentially, everyone should talk to their orthodontist about how their life will need adjustment once they acquire a retainer. This guide will be useful when a patient needs to have a retainer.

Modern Orthodontics: Clear bracket braces Forest Hiils

Modern Orthodontics: Comfortable, Discreet, And Convenient

I’m always amazed when patients under 20 come into my office and ask “if getting braces is going to hurt a lot?” What stories did their parents tell them I wonder?

I’m always amazed when patients under 20 come into my office and ask “if getting braces is going to hurt a lot?” What stories did their parents tell them I wonder? Orthodontics have come a long way from the time when getting braces was a painful, fearful, anxiety-filled experience. Today, you have options that are not only comfortable and non-irritating— they are discrete and convenient.

Both Damon Clear® and Invisalign® are excellent options for any patient, young or old, who is concerned about pain or irritation. Invisalign’s smooth, comfortable plastic aligners are easy on the gum and mouth. In fact, it’s easy to forget you even have them on. In fact, Invisalign recently launched its new innovative “Smart-Track” material which is even more flexible and uses a more subtle type of force to move teeth.

Damon Clear® braces are part of the popular Damon System, which uses “tieless” brackets and high technology arch wires that are clinically proven to move teeth comfortably, quickly (by previous standards) and with impressive results. That’s due to Damon Clear’s advanced “passive” slide mechanism that maintains arch wires within the bracket, allowing teeth to move with a more subtle pressure and less chance of any irritation.

PLUS both Damon Clear Invisalign call for shorter treatment times than traditional wire and bracket braces. This often helps patients bypass extractions and the use of “rapid palatial expanders” to widen the palate— all good news for who have a low threshold for pain and discomfort. And, drum roll please.. with both Invisalign and Damon Clear, you’ll require less orthodontist visits than you’d expect.

Removable too!

I love telling my patients they can actually—and easily— remove the Invisalign aligner trays for eating and cleaning, and can continue doing all the things they normally do— brush, floss, eat spare ribs, you name it. While we do not advise you get in the habit of removing your Invisalign aligners, it’s relief for some to know that option is available especially on children… just in case. When you’re done eating or flossing, just pop them back in. It’s really that simple.

For the aesthetic-minded

Pain and aesthetics are the two biggest issues for our patients considering braces, and we are proud to say we cater to both concerns. In fact, we offer clear, metal-free and ceramic braces options. If you’re considering getting braces but want to learn more, schedule your initial consultation at the office most convenient for you. We have locations in Mill Basin, Brooklyn; Forest Hills, Queens; and Cedarhurst, Long Island.

At the offices of Dr. Eckstein and Dr. Yusupov, we are not only committed to your 100% satisfaction, we have the experience and track record to back it up. With our Super Elite Top 1% Invisalign ranking, we also have the distinction of being recognized in the industry for our expertise.

Is An Electric Toothbrush Better Than A Regular Toothbrush?

Electric Vs. Manual Toothbrushes: Choosing For You

Electric toothbrushes have motorized action that allows the brush head to move automatically over the teeth. They may have a number of different settings for different situations, like deep cleaning, “polishing” the teeth, and even massaging the gums.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ELECTRIC & MANUAL TOOTHBRUSHES?

ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSHES

Electric toothbrushes have motorized action that allows the brush head to move automatically over the teeth. They may have a number of different settings for different situations, like deep cleaning, “polishing” the teeth, and even massaging the gums.

Although the structure of an electric toothbrush brush head does not differ much from that of a manual toothbrush, it is much easier to replace them. Brush heads are sold separately from the electric toothbrush body, so you can buy replacement heads instead of replacing the whole thing.

Electric toothbrushes generally operate using a rechargeable battery. These continue to function for many years under normal circumstances and, in some models, they can also be replaced as necessary. Also, if the battery runs out, the toothbrush can be used as a manual toothbrush.

MANUAL TOOTHBRUSHES

Manual toothbrushes are the traditional form of toothbrush that most people have grown up using. They are easy to use and store and are generally simple to keep clean.

Many of today’s manual toothbrushes have specialized bristles intended to help clean hard to reach areas of the mouth. Another common feature is the “color-changing bristles” that help you see, at a glance, when you should replace your brush for maximum effectiveness.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ELECTRIC AND MANUAL TOOTHBRUSHES?

ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSHES

Intensity of Cleaning

Because the brush head does so much of the work of cleaning with an electric toothbrush, it is easier for most people to get their teeth completely, with the help of an electric brush. Most of these brushes are configured to move the head in a circular motion – all the user needs to do is move the brush to each tooth in turn. Thus, users can benefit from more brush strokes per minute.

Special Cleaning Features

Most electric toothbrushes have a range of different cleaning options. Often, there’s one setting for “general” cleaning and one to buff or whiten the surface of teeth. In some cases, there may be a setting for soft tissue, including the gums, tongue, or both. While you should take any claims about these settings with a grain of salt, they can make the brush more versatile.

Benefits for Limited Mobility

Elders and those with limited mobility often find that it is easier for them to operate an electric toothbrush. Since they only need to concentrate on the up and down and side to side motions, it’s not necessary to have the range of motion to brush each tooth in a circular pattern.

MANUAL TOOTHBRUSHES

Simplicity of Use

Most people have used manual toothbrushes for years and are familiar with techniques for using them. Because they are relatively simple, it’s a good idea to start children off with them early in life. Once they understand the basic concepts, they can opt for an electric toothbrush.

Reduced Risk of Gum Irritation

Some people with sensitive gums might find they are prone to occasional irritation when they use electric toothbrushes. This can be especially troublesome as brush heads age – the tips of the bristles change shape and become less smooth. A manual toothbrush is often more gentle.

Minimizing the Appearance of White Sports

With orthodontic treatment, brushing is extremely important to minimize the creation of white spot lesions. You can have white spots if your teeth have become weakened from poor dental hygiene or consuming large amount of sugary drinks. These spots show where your tooth enamel has eroded. Your tooth enamel protects your teeth from bacteria that can lead to decay, so when it erodes, you have a higher chance of getting cavities. You might also have white spots if you used to wear braces and had them removed. These spots appear in areas where you weren’t able to thoroughly clean your teeth.

When it comes to the question of which type of brush to use, neither one is superior to the other in all situations. Instead, it’s always best to use whichever type of brush helps you remember to brush regularly. Try to brush at least twice a day for at least two minutes a day.

Invisible Braces: How to Find the Best Hidden Braces in NYC

Everyone wants a picture-perfect smile, but no one wants to wear clunky metal braces for months or even years.

However, what if I told you there is another solution? Invisible braces are a better alternative to metal braces since they are transparent, customizable, and removable. Read on to learn more about the benefits of invisible braces and where you can find the best invisible braces in New York City!

WHAT ARE INVISIBLE BRACES?

Hidden braces, also known as invisible braces or clear aligners, are a discrete alternative to traditional braces. Usually, when we think of braces, we remember our childhood and the kids with a mouth full of metal brackets and rubber bands. Because of this, many adults would rather live with crooked teeth than get braces.

Invisible braces offer a perfect solution for those people who do not want to wear metal wires but still desire a perfect smile.

HOW DO INVISIBLE BRACES WORK?

Invisible braces consist of a series of clear thermoplastic aligners that fit over your teeth. They are nearly invisible to others and are much less invasive and painful than traditional braces.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR INVISIBLE BRACES?

In the first examination, your orthodontist will determine if you are eligible for invisible braces based on the condition of your teeth. If you have healthy teeth and your dentist believes you would benefit from the treatment, they will use an intraoral scanner to take a digital scan of your teeth. They will then use this scan to create a customized product that fits your teeth perfectly. With the 3D scan, you will also be able to compare your teeth before and after treatment.

Unlike traditional braces that stay on your teeth for months or years, invisible braces are custom-made, and you have to replace them every 1-3 weeks. Your orthodontist will evaluate your progress at each visit and give you a new, slightly different aligner that will continue to push your teeth into the correct position.

Most dentists recommend removing invisible braces while eating food, brushing teeth, and flossing. Apart from that, you should wear it for at least 20-22 hours a day.

WHAT IS THE LENGTH OF TREATMENT FOR INVISIBLE BRACES?

Invisible braces should start correcting your smile within six months. However, you should begin to see changes within a few weeks.

Keep in mind the length of treatment will vary based on the condition of your teeth. Here are three possible circumstances that may prolong your treatment:

TEETH CROWDING

If you have crowded teeth, meaning the spaces between your teeth are smaller than average, aligning your teeth will take more time. Essentially, crowded teeth have more distance to move than evenly spaced teeth, and therefore, the treatment can take longer. For severe cases of crowding, an orthodontist may recommend another preliminary treatment before hidden braces.

TEETH GAPPING

On the flip side, large gaps between teeth can also prolong the treatment for the same reason. Teeth gapping might be due to the large jaw bone, excessive tissue growth, or a smaller tooth compared to the tooth socket.

COMPLIANCE

It can be hard to remain committed if you don’t see immediate results. However, even if you feel frustrated, you must continue to wear your braces for at least 20-22 hours per day. Otherwise, your teeth will go back to their original position. If you are going to spend money on a dental treatment, you should stick it out. Too many individuals stop wearing their braces and waste their initial investment.

REASONS WHY YOU NEED HIDDEN BRACES?

There are many reasons why invisible braces are superior to traditional metal braces.

REMOVABLE

Unlike metal braces, invisible braces are not permanent, so you can remove them whenever you want. Gone are the days of picking popcorn kernels out of your braces.

MAINTAIN GOOD ORAL HYGIENE

It can be difficult to properly brush the tartar off your teeth with traditional braces because the brackets get in the way. Such obstruction can lead to cavities and tooth decay. This isn’t an issue with invisible braces, as you can remove them to ensure proper oral hygiene.

REDUCES PAIN

Teeth grinding is a common habit. If you have ever gotten out of bed with a sore jaw after a night of grinding, you understand the discomfort. People who grind their teeth often wear a mouthguard at night to protect their teeth and jaw. Invisible braces act as a sort of mouthguard and not only help move your teeth but prevent you from grinding your teeth together.

Invisalign vs. Metal Braces

Invisalign Or Metal Braces: Pros And Cons

Invisalign vs. Metal Braces, The traditional form of teeth realignment for decades. They have been around forever… for-ev-er!!! But now there’s a new kid on the block: Invisalign.

Invisalign vs. Metal Braces, The traditional form of teeth realignment for decades. They have been around forever… for-ev-er!!! But now there’s a new kid on the block: Invisalign. It’s a new technology, so completely different from traditional/metal braces. But they’re braces, so let’s ask the question: What’s the difference?!?

DESIGN

Metal braces are a set of wires and bracket – all made of metal – that are permanently attached to the wearer’s teeth.

Invisalign is a series of 18 to 30 plastic trays worn for two weeks at a time.

USE

Metal braces and Invisalign are both used to realign and level the wearer’s teeth, the difference is in the application.

RULES

Metal braces come with a lot of rules. Can’t chew gum. Can’t drink soda. Cant’s eat chewie or gummy candies. You have to meticulously clean the wires and brackets after every meal so that you don’t get a build-up of old food/bacteria that could cause other oral health issues.

Invisalign vs. Metal Braces. Invisalign doesn’t have any such rules; since they are removable, you can take them off your teeth and out of your mouth when you eat or drink anything. You could still chew gum or eat gummy candies though your orthodontist might suggest you avoid it.

COMFORT

Metal braces are known for being a bit uncomfortable; because of the wires needing to be tightened on occasion, and the brackets rubbing against the gums and causing sores, going the traditional route may not be the most enjoyable.

Invisalign doesn’t have any such issues. If they start feeling uncomfortable, they can be removed and there isn’t the chance of having such issues.

VISIBILITY

Unless you have Lingual braves – which are still made of metal and sit behind the teeth and come with all of the same rules – traditional braces are super visible.

Invisalign – as the name suggests – are mostly invisible. Because they are made from clear plastic, most people aren’t going to even notice you’re wearing braces unless they specifically stare at your teeth or you show them.

COST

Both traditional braces and Invisalign are comparable when it comes to the overall cost. The benefits of both for the sake of oral health are undeniable, that’s for sure. There might be a lower overall cost for metal braces, but both are equally affordable, and looking at the beneficial aesthetic of Invisalign, it’s less of an expense and much more of an investment.

Invisalign vs Metal Braces

One of the most common questions we hear is Invisalign VS Braces? Fortunately, Dr. Irving Eckstein and Dr. Azariy Yusupov can provide you with top rated orthodontic care in either Brooklyn or Queens.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN METAL BRACES AND INVISALIGN?

One of the most common questions we hear is Invisalign VS Braces?

Fortunately, Dr. Irving Eckstein and Dr. Azariy Yusupov can provide you with top rated orthodontic care in either Brooklyn or Queens.

At their Queens and Brooklyn orthodontic offices, New York orthodontists Dr. Azariy Yusupov and Dr. Irving Eckstein use a variety of orthodontic techniques – including Invisalign aligners, self-ligating braces, traditional braces, speed braces, headgear, and retainers – to treat orthodontic problems like misaligned teeth, malocclusions, overbites, underbites, overcrowding, and malformed jaws. If you live in Queens or Brooklyn and need orthodontic treatment, you should visit New York orthodontists Dr. Eckstein and Dr. Yusupov.

When comparing the Invisalign aligners to the self-ligating braces it is important to remember that both systems have advantaged and disadvantages when treating misaligned teeth, malocclusions, crooked teeth, overbites, underbites and other orthodontic problems. Both treatment options share a few benefits over traditional braces.

For example, both Invisalign aligners and self-ligating braces, also called speed braces, are far more comfortable than traditional braces and do not require tightening.

In addition, Invisalign (Clear Braces) are also removable, allowing for proper oral hygiene and allowing the patient to eat whatever they want during treatment. Invisalign aligners are clear, meaning that they do not attract unwanted attention during treatment. On the other hand, Self-ligating speed braces have two main functional advantages.

First, self-ligating braces are capable of treating more severe orthodontic problems than either Invisalign aligners or traditional braces. Second, speed braces treat orthodontic problems far more quickly than Invisalign aligners or traditional braces do.

We are Brooklyn braces experts. Give us a call at 718-275-3200 if you would like to make an appointment.

We also offer both Invisalign and braces at our Forest Hills Orthodontic practice.

Invisalign vs Braces: How to choose what is best For You?

Many individuals have crooked teeth which require the right arrangement. Generally, we have heard that a large number of braces are the best solution for that. Nonetheless, with the coming of Invisalign, it would be a smart thought to investigate the Invisalign Vs braces thing so you will know which one to choose.

INVISALIGN IS ANOTHER SORT OF SUPPORT THAT IS REMOVABLE.

Different arrangements of aligners can likewise be worn permitting you to see great outcomes following half a month of utilization. This is an astounding alternative to the ordinary braces which many individuals are wearing.

One principle distinction when we talk about Invisalign Vs braces is that the aligners can be eliminated in case it is fundamental even though, you need to wear them frequently so that great outcomes will come out. Also, the answer for Invisalign is undetectable that is the reason you will actually want to wear aligners the entire day through without telling others that you are wearing them.

THE ESSENTIAL BENEFIT OF UTILIZING INVISALIGN IS INTANGIBILITY.

Great outcomes don’t simply occur without any forethought yet if you continue wearing imperceptible aligners as opposed to wearing the customary braces, you will unquestionably have more trust in yourself and you will look stunningly better.

Another advantage of utilizing Invisalign is its solace in wearing. This is fundamentally intended to suit your mouth and when you become accustomed to it, it will be amazingly agreeable and lovely to wear.

Invisalign is produced using solid and straightforward plastic that is of top-notch alongside an aligner plate that is fit for fixing the teeth continuously.

Traditional braces, however, utilize sections and wires produced using metal which is connected to the teeth to adjust the teeth also. The aligners of Invisalign are traded like clockwork for another set until such time the teeth will arrive at their ideal position.

As far as Invisalign Vs braces, there will be no gum disturbance with Invisalign and you will actually want to clean and routinely floss your teeth. Since the aligners are imperceptible, the treatment methodology won’t influence your way of life. The typical braces, in any case, are extremely successful, especially in serious examples where Invisalign may not be adequate.

Clenching teeth invisalign: compatibility?

Can You Wear Invisalign If You Grind Your Teeth?

Invisalign are orthodontic trays made of plastic and used as dental braces to align teeth. They are a series of removable, customized aligners that cover your teeth and, over time, straighten them.

CAN YOU WEAR INVISALIGN IF YOU GRIND YOUR TEETH

WHAT IS INVISALIGN TREATMENT?

Invisalign are orthodontic trays made of plastic and used as dental braces to align teeth. They are a series of removable, customized aligners that cover your teeth and, over time, straighten them.

Most Invisalign braces are discrete compared to traditional metal braces making them preferred by patients, particularly older individuals.

Invisalign treatment first starts with a consultation with an orthodontist. They will examine your teeth and determine if you qualify for Invisalign treatment. Then, they will fit you for custom clear aligners and create an Invisalign treatment plan for you.

Your dentist will advise you on the length of your Invisalign treatment, but it typically takes 6 to 12 months. However, some patients require a more extended treatment period.

WHY DO SOME PEOPLE GRIND THEIR TEETH?

Medically known as Bruxism, many people have problems grinding their teeth. It’s commonly a nervous tic, and most individuals grind their teeth at night and may not even be aware of the habit. However, grinding one’s teeth often causes oral health complications that a dentist or orthodontist will notice over time

Some signs patients will experience if they have Bruxism include:

  • An increase in tooth pain, and sometimes pain or tightness in the jaw, neck, and face
  • Loose and sometimes fractured teeth and worn-out enamel
  • Sleep disruptions
  • Cracked tooth syndrome – Some individuals grind their teeth so hard they develop cracks. The crack may be small and unnoticeable, but an X-ray will reveal the issue. Consider asking your orthodontist about the possibility of this if you will feel pain when chewing your food.

WHAT CAUSES BRUXISM?

Doctors still don’t completely understand why some individuals grind their teeth but some risk factors for Bruxism include:

  • Stress: A stressful lifestyle can lead to teeth grinding at night.
  • Age: Bruxism is common among young children, but they usually grow out of the condition.
  • Medications and other substances: Teeth grinding is a side effect of some psychiatric medications, such as certain antidepressants. Smoking cigarettes, drinking caffeine and alcohol are other behaviors that increase one’s risk of Bruxism.
  • Genetics: Many doctors believe Bruxism is genetic as it’s common for several family members to suffer from the disorder.
  • Other disorders. Bruxism can be associated with other disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease, dementia, gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD), epilepsy, night terrors, and sleep-related disorders such as sleep apnea.

CAN YOU WEAR INVISALIGN IF YOU GRIND YOUR TEETH?

Yes! Invisalign aligners naturally reduce the damage caused through teeth grinding as the aligners act as a barrier between your teeth. However, Invisalign teeth grinding can damage your aligners if your Bruxism is severe.

Most orthodontists switch out a patient’s aligners every two weeks, so it’s unlikely you will irreparably damage your aligners before you need new trays. If you are concerned and want to reduce the risk of damaging your aligners, consider these preventative behaviors:

  • Avoid alcohol as the habit gets worse with alcohol consumption.
  • Cut back on junk foods and drinks like coffee, chocolate, and caffeine.
  • Stop chewing gum. As the muscles get used to grinding, you are more likely to clench your teeth.

CAN YOU WEAR A NIGHTGUARD WITH INVISALIGN?

While patients can typically get fitted for a nightguard over traditional braces, a nightguard cannot be worn with aligners. However, as you approach the end of your treatment, consider asking your orthodontist to fit you for a nightguard you can wear once you finish your treatment to protect your teeth as much as possible.

The retainer-like plastic will feel similar to the Invisalign aligners and covers the biting surfaces. Depending on the kind you choose, it will fit over either the top or bottom set of the teeth. You can buy a nightguard you customize yourself or buy a customized one through your dentist or orthodontist; be aware there will be a significant price difference.

WHAT ARE CHEWIES?

When you first get your Invisalign aligners or after you get a new tray, many orthodontists recommend “chewies” that you can chew to close air gaps that occur between the aligner and the teeth. Chewies are cylindrical soft plastic pieces that you place between your aligners and chew for a minute to adjust the Invisalign in your teeth. While chewies usually don’t stop teeth grinding at night, they may reduce the Invisalign jaw clenching that many patients experience after first starting the treatment.
